NSW: Prisoner guilty of murdering paedophile

SYDNEY, April 20 AAP - A prisoner was today found guilty of murdering a convicted paedophile
who he did not want in his group of cells.

Harry Robinson, 27, bashed and stomped on the head of former headmaster John Thomas
Kennett at the Junee Correctional Centre, in southern New South Wales, on September 17,
1998.

A jury in the NSW Supreme Court took two days to reach its verdict.

The court was told Robinson and other prisoners learned Kennett, 48, was in jail for
sex offences against children and decided they did not want him in their group of cells.

Robinson and another inmate went to Kennett's cell and punched him to the ground and
then kicked and stomped on him.

Kennett, a former headmaster at the Kinross Wolaroi private school at Orange, had been
jailed for at least eight years for sex offences against 12 boys.

The 37 offences took placed between 1978 and 1986 on students aged nine to 12, except
one victim who was 16 at the time he was abused.

Robinson will be sentenced on a date to be fixed.
