WA: Better funding model key COAG priority, Carpenter

Premier ALAN CARPENTER says Western Australia will push to head up a review of the
current funding model between the commonwealth and the states .. which he says is a mess
.. at tomorrow's COAG meeting.

Mr CARPENTER says his top priorities for the Melbourne meeting are a national approach
on beating skills shortages .. infrastructure .. health .. education and skilled migration.

He says he'd like WA to chair a review or a taskforce to see a change in the current
funding model.

Mr CARPENTER says he'll also push for an overhaul of the skilled migration system ..

which requires more flexibility to suit the booming state's needs.
