Eur: Mackillop set to become Australia's first saint

Australia's Roman Catholics will be celebrating today as they wake up to news that
MARY MACKILLOP is just a few formalities away from becoming our first saint.

Overnight Pope BENEDICT XVI approved Mother MARY's second miracle .. a key hurdle in
the progress towards sainthood.

Her canonisation must now be set down for approval at a Solemn Consistory .. which
is expected in March.

The decision to canonise will be formally made then and the date of the canonisation
ceremony in Rome will be announced by the Pope.

Sister ANNE DERWIN .. Congregational Leader of The Sisters of Saint Joseph founded
by Mother MARY .. says it's a special day not only for the Sisters but also for Australia
and the universal Church.
